The rare and large Ming underglaze copper red dish was recently discovered within the San Francisco Estate of Elinor Majors Carlisle, where it was used for years as a serving dish for family meals of crab The 46-centimeter dish dates from the Hongwu Period (1368-1398) and is one of very few surviving from this era.
