A visitor to the Auction House Bonhams & Butterfields in San Francisco looks at a very rare Ming dish that will be offered soon for a pre-sale estimate of one to two million US dollars. The rare and large Ming underglaze copper red dish was recently discovered within the San Francisco Estate of Elinor Majors Carlisle, where it was used for years as a serving dish for family meals of crab The 46-centimeter dish dates from the Hongwu Period (1368-1398) and is one of very few surviving from this era.
