As part of a public showing, a diver feeds the occupants of the three-story living Kelp Forest of the Nearshore galleries inside the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Monterey Bay Aquarium has more than 100 galleries and exhibits with over 365,000 specimens representing 571 species of fishes, invertebrates, mammals, reptiles, birds and plants found in the Bay. The Monterey Bay Aquarium put a female Great White Shark on exhibit in a million-gallon aquarium on September 14, 2004, three weeks after she was inadvertently caught in a commercial fishing net off Huntington Beach in Southern California. There are no other Great White Sharks on display in the world today, and no aquarium has ever exhibited a White Shark for more than 16 days.
