The young female Great White Shark inside the 3,000-gallon mobile transport tank that took her from the ocean pen off Malibu to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The white stripes are designed to give a sense of orientation to the animal. The Monterey Bay Aquarium put a female Great White Shark on exhibit in a million-gallon aquarium on September 14, 2004, three weeks after she was inadvertently caught in a commercial fishing net off Huntington Beach in Southern California. There are no other Great White Sharks on display in the world today, and no aquarium has ever exhibited a Great White Shark for more than 16 days.
